Utter Nonsense! The Cheltenham Illustration Awards 2016

Those of you who are kind enough to connect with me on the old Facebook, will know that I recently had the honour of being picked to be included in the 2016 Cheltenham Illustration Awards, hosted by The University of Gloucestershire!

That’s pretty neat eh?

What’s EVEN NEATER, is that is week I received by magic of the good old postie, a copy of the Award’s 2016 Anthology of my very own! Woop woop!

As you can see, it’s a beautiful (classy hard back!) compendium of incredible talent, both students and established folk. On taking a look inside, I have been genuinely blown away by the incredible work of all of those listed, and am even prouder to have been picked to display alongside them.

My little example of nonsense as it appears inside this beautiful collection.

It’s always a wonderful thing to see your work in print, but I was genuinely impressed at the quality of this lovely book; both in content and in print. It was a lovely surprise to have been selected and even lovelier to have such a wonderful present out of it!

I also spied some familiar names! This guy (Stephen Collins) is a brilliant talent in the world of comics. Look him up!

chelt1My favourite part of any anthology is discovering all those new names and talents to pop into the inspiration memory bank. This collection is bulging with them, it’s going to be a busy evening ahead, finding them all on twitter!

Brand Spankin’ New Comic, Unterwegs!

That means ‘on the way’ to us, not German folks.

Which is funny, as that was the name of my last short comic.

Anyhoo, I’ve been doing lots and lots of illustration things recently and a lot less comic things. And it has not gone unnoticed by the lovely, interesting people of the indie comic scene.

So, at the behest of these great people, I am now returning to the realms of comics and thing making a short NEARLY WORDLESS (oh yus) six page comic for your visual consumption.

I don’t want to say too much (I mean, it’s only 6 pages. If I sneeze I’ll have pretty much have given it away) but I thought I’d upload a few odds and ends from the story in progress to whet those appetites.

Enjoy, not long to wait. Plan is to unveil around September time.

Sit tight.

Where My Wild Drawings Are! Download the Anthology!

For those of you that don’t remember, I did a few illustrations for the Bath Spa MA in Creative Writing course’s graduating anthology.

Well, the anthology is now done and dusted and ready to go and it entirely free and available to download here both in PDF and for kindle.

It features 23 short, illustrated extracts from the young adult novels from the very talented bunch, five of which feature my artwork to accompany them.

The beautiful cover design is a wee snippet from the, very talented, Emily Hunter. Check her out too cause she’s awesome and really nice.

It’s a great read and a brilliant showcase so go have a read and reap the fruits of our labor!
